Etosha National Park And Otjiwarongo

The definitive feature of the Etosha National Park is the Etosha Pan, a vast shallow depression which is a bleak expanse for most of the year. On the fringes are waterholes which attract elephant, lion, herds of zebra and antelope and the park is also home to 340 species of bird. South of the park at Otjiwarongo is the Foundation which is dedicated to the preservation of cheetah and leopard.

Climate

The climate is typical of a semi-desert country and droughts are common. September to April is the hot dry season and so March to November are the most popular months to visit. The dry heat means that Namibia is virtually free of tropical diseases and it is only along the Kunene River in the far north that malaria is a potential threat.
