From 13 November until 30 December you can delight in a traditional Danish yuletide at the Christmas Markets that are held in the famous Tivoli Gardens (entrance is £12) and at Nyhavn. Thousands of lights decorate the ice-rinks, stalls laden with Christmas gifts and restaurants offering traditional fayre.

Located in the fashionable Nyhavn district this is the best three star hotel in Copenhagen.The Strand is an old warehouse building dating back to 1869. It opened in 2000 after a full restoration and has 174 well-furnished rooms. The exposed original brickwork, the rich wooden panelling and the open fireplace of the hotel’s reception breakfast room and lobby bar all help maintain the original feel and character of this waterfront warehouse.
