Gardens & Galleries of the Cote D’Azur

France

  • Art and Garden Tours

Even today, the mention of a visit to the Côte D'Azur always provokes an envious response, such is the reputation of this magical stretch of coastline. We stay in Nice for the duration of the holiday which is devoted to the Côte’s major art collections, villas and gardens.

Ever since Monet arrived in Antibes in the 1880s, attracted by the regions gentle climate and clear light, the Côte d'Azur became a magnet for artists. Gardeners too came in droves to grow exotic species, impossible to cultivate in harsher climes. Both art and gardens seem to blend more harmoniously into their natural setting than in any other part of Europe and the legacy of these two creative groups is here in abundance
