Ubeda
Spain
Located in the province of Jaen, Ubeda, together with neighbouring Baeza, was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2003. It is one of the region's architectural treasures and is known as the Andalucian Renaissance city because of its wonderful 16th Century buildings which include the vast former Hospital de Santiago, the Casa Mudejar (now an archaeological museum), the Palacio de las Cadenas and the beautiful Capilla del Salvador church.
The old town with its atmospheric, narrow streets stands within city walls first raised by the Moors in the 9th Century.
