This is one of the most celebrated events of Europe and is the Feast that marks the start of Lent, it takes place between 13 and 24 February 2009. The word Carnival come from the latin carnis flesh and levare put away. It revives the traditional masked balls and elaborate costumes of the 18th century with processions, masquerades, music and festivals to create a fabulous atmosphere throughout the city's beautiful canals, squares and palaces.
