Overlooking Central Park on Fifth Avenue at 61st Street, The Pierre is one of New York’s landmark hotels; since 1928 it has been the byword for luxury on the grand scale and it reopened in June 2009 as the flagship of Taj Hotels after a meticulous $100 million restoration.

Accommodation

The Grand Ballroom has been restored to its original glory, the new lobby lounge is beautiful and the 140 bedrooms and 49 suites are now amongst the most elegant and luxurious in the city – many have wonderful views out over Central Park.

Service is impeccable with staff outnumbering guests by more than three to one. Late in 2009, acclaimed London restaurant Le Caprice opened at The Pierre in a new dining room stretching along 61st Street and decorated with photographic works by David Bailey. New York has a myriad of luxurious deluxe hotels but The Pierre’s unique style and elegance make this our favourite.
