Short Break
Located next to the beautiful Gothic church of Sant’Anastasia at one end of the city’s pedestrianised main street, the Due Torri is only a minute from the River Adige and two from the AMO (opera museum). Both the central Piazza Erbe and Roman Arena are close by.
This is Verona’s ‘grand dame’ and has hosted guests for over 700 years. A recent renovation has been completed without compromising the sense of history – there is a spectacular collection of antique porcelain, silverware, fans, glassware and Chinese lacquer work.
The 89 bedrooms are decorated in traditional 19th century style and all are spacious. The panoramic rooftop terrace is the perfect place to enjoy an aperitif and the magnificent views of the city’s red roofs and surrounding hills. There is a seasonal grill restaurant on the top floor and a gastronomic restaurant on the ground floor beneath a mediaeval arcade.
1 November – 28 March: 3 nights for the price of 2, saving up to £190.

Parma
The annual Verdi Festival takes place in one of Italy’s most beautiful historic cities, Parma. It is here in the countryside around Parma that Verdi was born, grew up and lived for much of his life. The special charm of Parma’s Verdi Festival is that performances take place not just in the Teatro Regio, one of the loveliest theatres in Italy, but also at the Teatro Verdi in Busseto when singers from the Verdi Voci Competition get a chance to perform.
