The hotel has a beautiful heated outdoor summer swimming pool set in extensive terraced gardens. Double rooms are located within the main building whilst 19 spacious and very comfortable junior suites (prices on request) have recently been built in the surrounding gardens. Dinner, sitting on the Loggia terrace, is one of lifes great  pleasures (jackets required for gentlemen). 46 rooms. A courtesy shuttle bus runs regularly to and from Florence centre. No lift. Florence, city of the Medicis, was once the most fabulously rich city on earth.  Wealthy noblemen chose this central, beautiful spot on the River Arno, set against a backdrop of Tuscan hills and Chianti vines, to create a centre of commerce, art, splendour and power.  Thanks to the influence of the Medici family, Florence attracted the nation's finest; Machiavelli inaugurated the new political thinking; Galileo turned old scientific thinking upside down; Boccaccio and Dante created the first Italian centre of literature (the Italian language was born in Florence).  Florence is attractive from any viewpoint, but the real beauty is to be found not so much in its exteriors, but inside the city's many palaces, churches and museums.
