Munich Christmas Market Holidays

 

Germany’s most beautiful city is a thriving centre for art and culture and home to a wonderful opera house (we would be delighted to book tickets for you).
The Christmas Market takes place in front of the gothic town hall, the Marienplatz, from 25 November until 24 December. Many Bavarian delights are on sale from pewter tankards to straw stars and festive angels.

The 73 rooms are the best in the city and the acclaimed Mark’s restaurant serves modern culinary delights (closed for dinner on Sunday and Monday). Informal lunches may also be taken at the ‘Mark’s Corner’ in the lobby area.

Kempinski Vier Jahreszeiten ***** Superior

This hotel has been welcoming guests since its opening in 1858 and is regarded as the Grand Dame of Munich. Located on Maximilianstrasse, its 303 classical bedrooms are all beautifully decorated. The restaurant serves international and traditional Bavarian cuisine in a bistro-style atmosphere. Evening drinks and afternoon tea are served in the stylish piano bar. There is a rooftop indoor swimming pool, sauna and fitness room.

The Charles ****

Custom built, with a modern and striking design, The Charles is a Rocco Forte Hotel located in the heart of the city overlooking the Old Botanical Gardens. Torbrau ****

A hotel since 1450, this privately-owned hotel is the oldest in Munich and is just a two minutes’ walk from Marienplatz and the Christmas Market. The 92 comforatble rooms are furnished for the most part in traditional Bavarian style. Breakfast is served in the first floor café which also offers light lunches and delicious afternoon teas.
