DAY 1

Please make your own way to the Wentworth Hotel in Aldeburgh. Clients arriving by train should travel to Saxmundham; we can arrange a taxi transfer to the hotel at a cost of approximately £20 per taxi each way.We will leave for our first concert at Snape at 17.00hrs.

DAY 2

We visit The Red House this morning where Benjamin Britten and Peter Pears lived from 1957 until their respective deaths. The visit will provide a unique insight into the lives of the two musicians. Peter Pears was a great collector and we see the many fine works he purchased over the course of his life. We also visit the current exhibition in the neighbouring Britten-Pears Library and see the room where many works were composed. Afterwards, we return to the hotel where the remainder of the day is free until we leave for the second concert.

DAY 3

The morning will be free in Aldeburgh. After lunch we visit one of the oldest churches in England, peacefully located overlooking the estuary at Iken. We then go to Sutton Hoo, the burial grounds of the Anglo-Saxon kings of East Anglia and one of Britain’s most important and atmospheric archaeological sites. We then arrive at Snape in time for this evening's concert.

DAY 4

This morning we drive to Blythburgh, one of the most impressive churches in Suffolk, and often used as a venue during the Aldeburgh Festival. We then move on to the charming seaside town of Southwold for an independent lunch and some free time to enjoy this Victorian resort. We return to the hotel and then leave again for the concert.
