Lake Como

Overview

The most beautiful and dramatic of the Italian lakes, Como has inspired poets and composers for centuries. Tranquil, still and timeless, the mountains that fringe the crystal waters provide a dramatic backdrop as do the many villas that stretch up the hillside from the lake shores. We offer some luxurious hotels, with food and comfort to match the wonderful views, as well as delightful family-run properties.

Como & Cernobbio

The charming town of Como is the meeting place for the whole lake community with regular ferry and hydrofoil departures to the romantic towns of Tremezzo, Menaggio and Bellagio and yet is only one hour by train from Milan. Cernobbio, a village just five kilometres away, is the home of one of Europe’s greatest hotels.

Tremezzo

Tremezzo has an unrivalled location on the shores of Lake Como with fine views across its calm waters to Bellagio. It is an attractive, small resort with a good selection of cafés and restaurants and is well served by the frequent ferries which travel up and down the lake. The grand 17th century Villa Carlotta, with its collection of decorative arts, has one of the finest gardens in Italy.

Moltrasio

The lakeside village of Moltrasio was a favourite summer retreat of Winston Churchill and is a few minutes’ drive from both Cernobbio and Como. Despite its excellent location it still retains a quiet and relaxing atmosphere. The public ferry terminal connects Moltrasio with Como in 20 minutes and Bellagio in 35 minutes.

Bellagio

We believe that everyone ought to visit Bellagio at least once in a lifetime. It is that perfect small town which has just the most wonderful views across the lake to the beautiful gardens of the Villa Carlotta and spectacular mountains that sweep down to the water’s edge. It sits on a fork in the lake and has an air of quiet dignity.

Lezzeno

A pretty fishing village on the eastern shores, just five miles south of Bellagio, Lezzeno is said to experience more sunshine than anywhere else on the lake yet it attracts a small fraction of the visitors that descend on its famous neighbour.
