Modica is a superbly atmospheric ‘town of a hundred churches’ and spreads up either side of a deep gorge with ancient buildings seemingly stacked one on top of the other. UNESCO protected, it has perfectly preserved Baroque architecture with the finest examples being San Pietro Cathedral and Gagliardi’s masterpiece, the church of San Giorgio, both perched at the top of long flights of stone steps. The beautiful sandy beaches of Sampieri and Marina di Modica are a short drive away, as are the towns
of Ragusa and Scicli. Fly to Catania, our price includes car hire and private transfers can be provided if preferred.
