Combining visits to exceptional art galleries with world-class music and ballet performances, our new holiday to Amsterdam has all the key elements for a cultural spring short break. The masters of the Dutch Golden Age, from Rembrandt and Vermeer to Franz Hals and Paulus Potter, form the focus at the magnificent Rijksmuseum and The Hague’s Mauritshuis, but we shall also visit the excellent Van Gogh Museum and Amsterdam’s Hermitage, and take in performances including Sheku Kanneh-Mason at the famous Concertgebouw concert hall, and Swan Lake at the Dutch National Ballet.

    On arrival we will transfer to our hotel. For the March departure we stay at the NH Museum Quarter and for the May departure we stay at the Hotel Jan Luyken. Both are conveniently located, close to the Museumplein.
  • Day 2 - HERMITAGE

    We will enjoy a canal cruise which will leave us at the Hermitage Amsterdam where important works from the collection of the Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg are beautifully displayed in an historic building overlooking the Amstel.

    This morning we go to the Van Gogh Museum where over 200 paintings, drawings and letters are on display. Afterwards we will visit the most important art museum in Holland, the Rijksmuseum. Designed by Pierre Cuypers and first opened in1895, the Rijksmuseum was reopened in 2013 after a ten-year restoration project, and houses the world’s greatest collection of Dutch paintings dating from the 17th century, Holland’s Golden Age, which includes Rembrandt’s eminent The Night Watch.
  • Day 4 - THE HAGUE

    Today we drive to The Hague, a sedate and dignified town of great charm. Here we visit the Mauritshuis with its wonderful collection of works by Dutch and Flemish masters, including Vermeer’s ‘The Girl with the Pearl Earring’ and ‘The Goldfinch’ by Carel Fabritius.
  • Day 5 - FLY HOME

    We drive to the airport for the flight back to the UK.
