Internationally acclaimed singer, pianist and songwriter, Joe Stilgoe, will host this very special music weekend at The Grand Hotel in Eastbourne, with a series of concerts inspired by film, theatre and the Great American Songbook of Cole Porter. Joe and his Trio will bring to Eastbourne their uniquely entertaining style of performance in three private concerts. During the day there will be included excursions to the nearby Charleston Farmhouse, meeting place for the Bloomsbury Group in the early Twentieth Century, as well as Eastbourne’s acclaimed Towner Gallery, and we will dine each evening at the hotel with Joe and his band.

Located on the promenade with magnificent views of the English Channel, the 'White Palace' was once a popular destination for Victorians seeking the health benefits of the bracing sea air. Famous former guests include Winston Churchill and Claude Debussy, who corrected the score of his masterpiece, La mer, while in residence.
Described by The Times as “A very British Harry Connick Jr”, and by The Guardian as “a jazz pianist and songwriter of considerable talent and no less charm” Joe Stilgoe is the son of songwriter Richard Stilgoe and opera-singer Annabel Hunt, and has forged a unique career as a modern-day entertainer with wit, style and a level of musicianship which has seen him recognised as one of the best singer-pianists in the world.
Joe has released 9 albums, five of which have topped the UK Jazz chart. His live performances offer an enticing mix of his heroes Danny Kaye, Nat King Cole and Dudley Moore, and he has given concerts at the Lyric Hammersmith, the Royal Albert Hall, the London Jazz Festival, St Johns Smith Square and Cadogan Hall, as well as sell-out Edinburgh Festival seasons and a UK tour. He was asked to perform for The Queen and Duke Of Edinburgh’s 70th wedding anniversary at Windsor, and has given private performances for members of the Royal family at St James Palace, The Ritz in London and Frogmore House, among many others. He works extensively on radio, including BBC Radio 2’s Friday Night is Music Night, JazzFM, and Radio 3 and 4.

Cole Porter and the Great American Songbook - From Anything Goes to High Society, Kiss Me Kate to Can Can, Cole Porter was the greatest musical songwriter of the first half of the 20th century. Joe and the band have been adapting his songs for years, and Joe has great tales and jokes from Cole’s life - this then leads into the rest of the Great American Songbook, covering Gershwin, Rodgers & Hart, Irving Berlin, Dorothy Fields, Cy Coleman, Harold Arlen and many more. The trio setting is the perfect way to the capture the brilliance and playfulness of these songs, with scintillating interplay between the musicians and stunning arrangements to make these songs appear as fresh as a daisy (in green pasture…).
28 March
Songs On Film - The greatest movie music! A show which first appeared at the Edinburgh Fringe to rave reviews (5 stars in The Scotsman) and subsequently toured the UK three times. Deft and witty takes on well known songs, with Joe’s film knowledge and inside trivia coming to the fore. As The Times said “dapper, handsome and quick witted… and gifted with dazzling digits”.
29 March
Theatre - featuring songs from Joe’s thrilling new album THEATRE, recorded with The Metropole Orkest. Rodgers & Hammerstein to Lin Manuel Miranda and everything in between. The show is touring the UK at the moment, and this will be a rare chance to see this show in a beautifully intimate setting
