A perfect example of a beautifully preserved Tuscan town, Lucca has artistic treasures of the first order. A popular destination for day visitors, it rewards those who stay a little longer with secrets which are slowly revealed. A four night stay provides the perfect amount of time to enjoy its charms such as the gourmet shops which line Il Fillungo in the heart of the city, as well as an opportunity to explore the beautiful hills which surround the city itself. An easy way to absorb the Lucchese spirit is to take a walk along the four kilometres of impeccably maintained pathways which have been created on top of the ramparts.

A wonderfully welcoming 4 star hotel, located in a mediaeval square dating from 1540, at one end of via San Paolino. This is a great base from which to explore Lucca – the Duomo di San Martino, Piazza dell’Antifeatro, Piazza Napoleone, Piazza San Michele, the Museo Nazionale di Villa Guinigi and the train station are all within easy walking distance.

We had a wonderful trip. The guide was brilliant and we all got on well together. We saw Lucca bathed in sunshine, which was a real bonus! Thank you very much.
