Itinerary

  • Day 1 - Eurostar to Paris

Travel by Eurostar from St Pancras International to Paris Gare du Nord, where you will be met by a Kirker transfer driver to escort you to the 4* Hotel Royal St Honoré in the heart of the right bank.
  • Day 2 - Explore Paris

Explore Paris independently, using your two day Paris Museum Pass to enjoy fast track access to the city’s main museums – including the Louvre, Musée d’Orsay and the Orangerie Museum which is home to a unique collection of Monet works, painted in the artist’s garden at Giverny – which you will visit in a few days’ time.
  • Day 3 - The Cruise Begins

Board the vessel today for your seven day cruise through Normandy. Dinner will be served on board this evening and you will have the opportunity to meet fellow guests before setting sail from Paris.
  • Day 4 - Château Gaillard

Uncover the history of Château Gaillard, the former stronghold of Richard the Lionheart, situated on the chalk cliffs high above the Seine this morning, or wander through the charming town of Les Andelys. In the afternoon we set sail along the meandering Seine for a scenic cruise.
  • Day 5 - Honfleur & Pays d’Auge

Arriving in Le Havre today you may wish to join a tour of the seaside town of Honfleur, renowned for its picturesque harbour and a popular subject for the Impressionists including Monet who spent time here. Alternatively explore the Pays d’Auge region of Normandy, where apple cider, Calvados and pommeau outrank French wine. After lunch there will be an optional city tour of Le Havre.
  • Day 6 - D-Day landing beaches

The D-Day landing beaches are just a few miles from our mooring and today there will be optional excursions to either the American sector including Colleville¬-sur-¬Mer, Omaha Beach and the artillery battery at Longues¬-sur-¬Mer, or to the Gold and Juno beaches in the British and Canadian sectors, where you will visit Ranville Cemetery, Pegasus Bridge, the Canadian cemetery at Beny¬sur-Mer, the WWII museum in Courseulle and, finally, Arromanches. For those who prefer, you might choose to visit one of the magnificent Romanesque abbeys of the region.
  • Day 7 - Rouen

Spend this morning enjoying medieval Rouen – another popular subject of Monet’s – with a walking tour including the square where Joan of Arc was martyred, as well as the Medieval Quarter and Great Clock. You also have the choice to explore Lyons-¬la-Forêt, built on the site of a former fortress and featuring remarkable architecture.
  • Day 8 - Giverny

Today brings an opportunity to visit Claude Monet’s home and gardens in Giverny. Art lovers will immediately recognize images immortalized in Monet’s most famous paintings—such as water lilies, Japanese bridges and graceful willows. Wander around his famous gardens and home where he lived for more than four decades. If you prefer, you might wish to visit the 18th-century Château de Bizy, inspired by the opulence of Versailles.
  • Day 9 - Auberge Ravoux

Today we sail to Auberge Ravoux in the heart of Auvers-sur-Oise, the last home of artist Vincent van Gogh. His spirit still lingers in his former attic rooms at the Ravoux Inn. The mere 70 days Van Gogh spent in Auvers-sur-Oise were astonishingly prolific as he painted more than 70 works here before his death. Later in the day, relax on the Sun Deck or on your balcony as the ship takes a scenic cruise on its way to Paris.
  • Day 10 - Eurostar to London

Disembarking in Paris this morning, you will be met by your Kirker transfer driver for the journey back to the Gare du Nord and a Eurostar to London.
