Our first Kirker Music Festival on the shores of Lake Como in the spring of 2018 was a highlight of the season. Lake Como is one of the most beautiful places in Europe – calm and mysterious, its deep waters edged by elegant cypress trees and low-arching mountains. No wonder Goethe’s Mignon spent her life yearning to return to the land where citrus trees blossom. The lake has inspired countless writers, poets and composers, including Vincenzo Bellini who stayed in Moltrasio and whose statue reclines languidly by the hotel.

The Itinerary

We will visit the elegant Villa Balbianello, beautifully sited on its promontory. Afterwards we will sail across the lake to the lovely resort of Bellagio for some free time. We will drive inland to the Villa Cicogna Mozzoni, a private villa with a splendid interior and views out across the garden to the mountains beyond. Lunch at one of Europe’s finest hotels, the Villa d’Este, is also included in our tour.It is on the shores of the lake in the neighbouring village of Cernobbio. We stay in the 4 star Grand Hotel Imperiale in Moltrasio, a small village on the shores of the lake. The hotel has a lakeside restaurant, renovated bedrooms, spacious lounges and a spa with an indoor pool. There will be free time for you to use the extensive ferry services that leave from right in front of the hotel. Moltrasio has several excellent restaurants for you to enjoy.

Optional visit to La Scala, Milan 27 September

L’elisir d’amore by Donizetti. A starry, all-Italian cast is led by Rosa Feola as Adina and René Barbera as Nemorino. Ambrogio Maestri is Dulcamara and Massimo Cavalletti is Belcore. We will write to you with further details and prices in January.
