The Kirker Music Festival on Lake Como

Italian Lakes 7 nights Prices on request

The destination for our new Kirker Music Festival is one of the most beautiful corners of Italy. Lined with villas, cypress trees and low-arching mountains that link the Alps with the plain of Lombardy, Lake Como has a peaceful timelessness like no other. The lake has inspired many composers, most notably Franz Liszt, whose works feature in our music programme, performed by a renowned group of international soloists, including Melvyn Tan, Benjamin Appl and sopranos Katherine Broderick and Rosa Feola. There will be an optional excursion to see Rosa on stage at La Scala, Milan in Donizetti’s Don Pasquale, before she gives her recital which will close our Festival. We stay in the village of Moltrasio at the southern tip of the lake.

The Itinerary

We will visit two of Lake Como’s famed gardens at the Villa Balbianello and the Villa Carlotta. We will also visit the island of Brissago on Lake Maggiore to see the famous botanical garden and the villa where the composer Leoncavallo lived and worked. We will have lunch and enjoy a concert at the 17th century Villa Medici-Giulini.

Optional visit to La Scala, Milan 19 April

Don Pasquale by Donizetti. Rosa Feola is Norina and Ambrogio Maestri is the duped Don. Transfers and dinner in a restaurant close to La Scala will be provided. We will have further details and prices early in January.
