Venice, Florence & Milan with Baglioni Hotels

Florence, Milan, Venice 9 nights Price from £2,498 per person

The unique beauty of Venice combines perfectly with stays in the thriving cities of Milan and Florence. Since the days of the Grand Tour, these cities have been at the top of many travellers’ wish lists, but Milan in particular receives fewer visitors than its counterparts to the south and east, and makes an excellent alternative to visiting Rome – some call Milan the ‘real capital’ of Italy as it is here that the big corporations, banks and Italy’s famous fashion industry are all based. But it is also an important historic city and home to several excellent art galleries, Italy’s most renowned opera house, and some delicious Lombardy cuisine. We recommend travelling to Venice and Florence during the week, when tourist numbers are lower and you can explore in more peace, before heading to Milan for the weekend, when the business travellers return home and this city is quieter.

Fly to Venice and back from Florence and stay three nights in each city. This holiday includes flights, private transfers, first-class rail between the cities, accommodation with breakfast and three complimentary dinners.

Complimentary nights applicable for Baglioni multi-centre holidays:

Venice: 3 nights for the price of 2 for stays to 29 April, 12 July – 27 August

Milan: 3 nights for the price of 2 for stays all year (except 28 August – 3 October)

Florence: 3 nights for the price of 2 for stays to 8 April, 26 July – 2 September

When you combine these three hotels in one tailor-made holiday, you will receive a complimentary dinner in each hotel’s gastronomic restaurant.

The tickets will allow you to avoid the lengthy queues and gain access to the Museo Correr and the National Archaelogical Museum. If you have visited the Doge's Palace before, we would be delighted to provide tickets to the Guggenheim or Accademia Galleries instead.

  • Day 1 - Flight to Venice & complimentary dinner

Fly to Venice, where you will be met by a Kirker representative and taken the short walk to your private water taxi for the short journey across the lagoon on board a private boat, watching the city rise out of the horizon. As you enter the canals of Venice you will head to your hotel in Venice, the Baglioni Hotel Luna, which is the oldest hotel in Venice and has its private mooring where you will dock. After checking in, walk around the corner this evening for an authentic Bellini at the famous Harry’s Bar, before enjoying your complimentary dinner at the hotel’s excellent Canova restaurant – within a spectacular Venetian ballroom.
  • Day 2 - Explore Venice

Today is free to explore Venice independently. From the Luna it is just a few steps to San Marco, which is the heart of Venice and a great place to start. We recommend booking a walking tour with one of Kirker’s expert local guides to introduce you to the city on the first morning – even if you know Venice well it can provide a fascinating insight into a new side of the city. If you are in the city on a Tuesday, ask about the weekly Kirker tour which operates every Tuesday morning with a small group of Kirker clients. In the evening, ask the Kirker Concierge about schedules and tickets for an opera or ballet performance at La Fenice, or its sister theatre the Teatro Malibran.
  • Day 3 - Doge's Palace

Use your complimentary Kirker entrance tickets for the magnificent Doge’s Palace today – the Kirker ticket enables you to bypass the queue and head directly for the wonderful interiors – the main council chamber in particular is unmissable, with a vast Tintoretto painting which dominates one wall. Ask about the ‘Secret Trails’ tour to discover some of the passageways and hidden doors which run behind the wood panelling of the palace. Alternatively, visit one of Venice’s great art galleries – the Accademia for the masterpieces of the Venetian Renaissance, or the Peggy Guggenheim Foundation for a unique collection of 20th century art.
  • Day 4 - Train to Florence & complimentary dinner

You will be met by a Kirker representative for your private water taxi transfer from the hotel to Venice station, where you board your high-speed train to Florence, passing through the Veneto and Emilia-Romagna. At the head of the train will be you Kirker driver for the short transfer to your next hotel, the stylish Baglioni Relais Santa Croce. Ask the Kirker Concierge to book a table for your complimentary dinner tonight at the hotel’s excellent Guelf i Ghibellini restaurant, which showcases the best of Tuscan ingredients with innovative modern techniques.
  • Day 5 - Explore Florence

Florence is a perfect city to explore on foot, with much of the historic city centre within easy walking distance. Start your day with a private walking tour with an expert Kirker guide – or, for those staying in Florence on a Sunday, join the Kirker small group tour which departs from the Piazza della Republica and takes in the Ponte Vecchio, Piazza Pitti and the church of Santo Spirito. Stop for lunch in one of our recommended trattoria, Florence is famous for its fabulous cuisine, in particular the traditional Bistecca Fiorentina, truffles from the Tuscan hills, and wild boar ragu with fresh pasta. Or, for the more adventurous, try a tripe sandwich – a popular local snack.
  • Day 6 - The Uffizi Gallery

Devote your second day to the art galleries of the city – starting with the Uffizi, the world’s greatest gallery of Italian Renaissance art, dedicated to the works of artists including Botticelli, Leonardo and Caravaggio. After admiring Botticelli’s Birth of Venus, take a short stroll to the nearby Accademia Gallery, where you will find the original stature of David by Michelangelo – or try the Bargello Gallery for a less-visited but equally impressive collection of sculpture. Tickets for all three galleries can be arranged by the Kirker Concierge before you travel, to save the queues on the door, and Kirker clients receive complimentary entrance to the first museum of their choice.
  • Day 7 - Train to Milan & complimentary dinner

Head to Piazza Duomo to admire Brunelleschi’s magnificent cupola, and if you feel like earning your supper, climb the steps to the top of the campanile – bell tower – where you will be rewarded with panoramic views of the Florentine rooftops. In the afternoon you will depart from Florence for the high-speed train – it takes just 1h 40m to reach Milan, where you will be met again by a Kirker driver and whisked to the elegant Carlton Hotel Baglioni in the heart of the city. This evening, enjoy your complimentary dinner at the Carlton’s restaurant. After dinner ask the Kirker Concierge about tickets for the famous La Scala opera house, one of the world’s most sought-after venues.
  • Day 8 - The Last Supper & Brera Gallery

The first destination for many visitors to Milan is the church of Santa Maria della Grazie, where Leonardo da Vinci’s famous fresco of The Last Supper is displayed to limited numbers of visitors – it is essential to pre-book tickets in advance and the Kirker Concierge can help. Art-lovers may choose to spend the afternoon at the Brera Gallery, one of Italy’s best art galleries yet strikingly less-visited compared to those in Florence and Venice – a complimentary ticket is included. Enjoy lunch at one of the excellent restaurants in the city centre – ask the Kirker Concierge for advice – and then take a stroll up the Via Montenapoleone in the heart of the fashion district for a taste of haute couture – even window shopping here is a fascinating pastime.
  • Day 9 - Duomo & Castello Sforzesco

Spend your morning visiting the striking Milan Duomo, or Cathedral, with its ornate façade and myriad spires and buttresses. This is the largest church in Italy (apart from St Peter’s in the Vatican City), and you can also visit the rooftop for a close-up view of the stone carvings and views of the city below.  In the afternoon, head to the Castello Sforzesco, the historic seat of the Dukes of Milan, and home to a fascinating room decorated by Leonardo during his stay in Milan, the Sala delle Asse.
  • Day 10 - Peck Food Hall & flight home

Your last stop should be the famous Peck Food Hall, a Milanese institution where you can pick up some culinary souvenirs and stop for lunch in the excellent café, before your Kirker transfer arrives to take you back to the airport for the flight home.
