Join prosecco expert Neil Phillips for an exclusive tour of Italy’s most famous sparkling wine region, including a stay in Venice and visits to three vineyards where we will enjoy exclusive access, specially-prepared menus and tutored prosecco-tastings. In addition to prosecco there will be visits to the splendid villas designed by Andrea Palladio, the historic towns of Vicenza and Padua, and two days in Venice including a walking tour with a local food expert.

  • Day 1 - Arrival in Venice

    Fly to Venice from Gatwick with British Airways. On arrival in Venice a private water taxi will meet the group and transfer you to the Hotel Splendid (4* Superior), in the centre of Venice. The afternoon is at leisure, before we meet for a glass of prosecco before dinner in the hotel’s restaurant.
  • Day 2 - Venice walking tour

    This morning we will meet our expert local guide for a three hour walking tour in Venice, including an opportunity to sample some local specialities in the city’s backstreet bacari or bars and restaurants. The afternoon is free to explore Venice independently, and you will be provided with entrance tickets for the Doge’s Palace, Accademia Gallery or the Peggy Guggenheim Collection.
  • Day 3 - Villa Cornaro, Villa Emo and Asolo

    You will be met by a water taxi this morning for the short journey to Piazzale Roma, before boarding a coach for our journey through the Veneto countryside. We will call first at two of Andrea Palladio’s splendid villas, the Villa Cornaro, and the Villa Emo, before arriving in the charming small town of Asolo, where we will check in to our hotel the Albergo Al Sole (4*). This evening we will enjoy a talk from Neil before dinner with matching wines at the nearby vineyard Loredan Gaspirini.
  • Day 4 - Prosecco vineyards

    Today is devoted to the vineyards of prosecco country, and we shall begin with a visit to Bisol, where we will have a tour and tasting followed by lunch at the Salis Restaurant, prepared by head chef Chiara Barisan. In the afternoon we will continue to the Villa Sandi, where we will visit the magnificent Palladian mansion at the heart of this family-owned estate, followed by a delicious dinner in a local restaurant in Valdobbiadene. We return to the hotel after dinner.
  • Day 5 - Vicenza

    We shall head to the nearby town of Vicenza today, where we will visit Palladio’s famous Villa La Rotonda. We shall also see the Palladian Basilica and the Palazzo Chiericati, now home to an art gallery, and there will be time for an independent lunch before returning to Asolo.
  • Day 6 - Padua

    On our final day in Italy we shall depart from the hotel in the morning, stopping for lunch in the historic university city of Padua. We have a reserved visit for Giotto’s magnificent Scrovegni Chapel with its frescoes dating from 1303–05, and will also visit the vast 13th century Basilica of St. Anthony. After lunch we will continue to Venice airport for our flight back to Gatwick.
