Lovingly restored by Rocco Forte Hotels, the Astoria has been at the centre of the City’s history since it opened in 1912. Legend has it that Hitler sent out invitations to a celebratory party in the hotel’s Winter Garden in anticipation of his capture of St. Petersburg and needless to say, the party never took place.
With wonderful views of St. Isaac’s Cathedral and the Mariinsky Palace, the hotel is within easy walking distance of the shopping on the Nevsky Prospect and the Hermitage Museum. The 169 comfortable bedrooms are furnished in the contemporary style that is synonymous with Rocco Forte Hotels. The 'Cafe Astoria' restaurant serves traditional Russian and French cuisine and there is also a vodka and caviar bar. The Astoria also has a fitness centre and a beauty spa.
