Originally the private estate of a merchant from Palermo when the grapes made on the rolling hills were pressed on the premises; the estate, which is 12 miles from Ragusa, has now been landscaped into two championship golf courses, while the original pressing barn now holds the atmospheric wine bar.
Excellent food is served in the three restaurants, including the gastronomic treat of ‘il Carrubo’, and the service is outstanding throughout the resort. The 202 modern rooms all have a generous balcony facing the countryside or golf course and are in a series of low rise buildings set around the quiet courtyard and its quaint chapel. In cooler months the hotel’s spa with sauna, Jacuzzi and heated indoor swimming pool are the ideal place to unwind while the large outdoor infinity pool and café are the focal point for summer days. From June to August, the hotel’s private sandy beach can be reached by a regular shuttle service. The hotel will close on 30 November 2018 and remain closed for the whole of 2019.
