Marion Mako

A career change led Marion into the world of garden design and, subsequently, to an MA in Garden History at the University of Bristol. For more than twenty years, she has worked as a freelance gardens consultant, researcher and educator.

A career change led Marion into the world of garden design and, subsequently, to an MA in Garden History at the University of Bristol. For more than twenty years, she has worked as a freelance gardens consultant, researching the histories of gardens, managing a large English country estate, designing planting schemes, teaching at the University of Bristol, the University of Buckingham, and the London College of Garden Design, presenting for television and writing books and articles on gardens and landscape history.

Marion also leads specialist garden tours throughout Europe, the United States, and the British Isles, bringing together her expertise in garden history, design, and storytelling.

In between tours she tends her garden on a vertiginous Cotswold hillside and serves as a Trustee of Painswick Rococo Garden.
