Richard Goldsbrough is the regimental historian of his former regiment, 1st The Queen’s Dragoon Guards. He studied military history at Balliol, Oxford, and has written several articles on his topic, including a Short History of the Queen’s Dragoon Guards and The Cavalry that broke Napoleon.
Richard Goldsbrough is the regimental historian of his former regiment, 1st The Queen’s Dragoon Guards. He studied military history at Balliol, Oxford, and has written several articles on his topic, including a Short History of the Queen’s Dragoon Guards and The Cavalry that broke Napoleon – the story of his unit’s antecedent regiment, 1st The King’s Dragoon Guards, which lost more men at the Battle of Waterloo than the whole of the British cavalry losses at the Charge of the Light Brigade. Richard is a member of the Gallipoli Association and has made a number of trips to the Dardanelles. His interest in this campaign stems from the participation of his grandfather in the naval operations associated it when serving in HMS Swiftsure – his naval scrapbook contains valuable photographs and his illustrations of this campaign.
