On the grounds of the remarkable Grade 1 listed Hospital of St Cross in Winchester, dating back to 1132, Kirker hosted a concert and champagne reception for 140 clients last week. Guests admired the medieval architecture and explored the exceptional gardens before the concert in the intimate Norman church at its heart. The acclaimed Carducci Quartet gave a recital including works by Mozart, Dvorak and composer, violist and Kirker’s director of music Simon Rowland-Jones. They began with Dvorak’s String Quartet in F Major before Simon Rowland-Jones’ new piece ‘Flock of Knot’ influenced by his walks near the North Norfolk coast, and finished with Mozart’s String Quartet in C Minor – for which Simon joined the Quartet on stage.
