In September, we were to delighted to host our annual Autumn Concert at St John's Church, Waterloo. The concert featured performances from two former pupils at the Yehudi Menuhin school in Surrey - pianist Melvyn Tan and 21-year-old double bassist Levi Andreassen from Oklahoma.
Levi was accompanied by Thomas Luke, the 2020 BBC Young Musician of the Year Keyboard Category winner, now at the Royal College of Music. Their program included double bass transcriptions by Schumann, Schubert, and Bottesini. In the second half, Melvyn Tan masterfully played Ravel and a Chopin sonata.
We look forward to welcoming Melvyn Tan at the upcoming Kirker Music Festival at The Star, Alfriston in November 2025 and November 2026. This is a three night holiday based at the historic village of Alfriston with three concerts and talks.
