Edmund de Waal, OBE is an artist and author, best known for his award-winning 2010 book, The Hare with Amber Eyes, which traces the story of his family’s collection of 264 netsuke hidden from the Nazis and passed down through five generations of the Ephrussi family. His second book, The White Road was published in 2015 and follows the history of porcelain from the hills of China to the potters of England.
He is also an acclaimed ceramic artist, and has made installations for Tate Britain, the Fitzwilliam Museum and the V&A, as well as Vienna’s Kunsthistorisches Museum, Kunsthaus Graz and New York’s Gagosian Gallery. Edmund is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, Trustee of the V&A Museum, and Senior Fellow of the Royal College of Art.
