The Kirker Spring Lecture in aid of Venice in Peril

28 May 2024

Kirker Holidays

The 2024 Kirker Spring Lecture took place on 14 May at the Royal Geographical Society, and we were delighted to be able to continue our long-running support for Venice in Peril with a wonderful talk from Dr Caroline Campbell.

Director of the National Gallery of Ireland, Caroline brought an exacting and original eye to bear on the work of artists who have been inspired by the unique combination of light and water in Venice. Featuring works by diverse artists including Canaletto, Turner, Singer Sargeant and Irish painter John Lavery, her talk was in equal measure informative, entertaining and inspiring.

The Royal Geographical Society is a unique venue for this prestigious annual event, and it was a full capacity audience for the talk, raising awareness and much-needed funds to support the important conservation work undertaken by the Venice in Peril Fund.
