Acropolis Museum

Athens, Greece
Kirker Holidays

This pristine, state-of-the-art showpiece opened in July 2009 as a dedicated exhibition centre for the marble sculptures found on the Acropolis. The show-stopping centrepiece is the top-floor gallery devoted to the Parthenon frieze, also known as the Elgin Marbles and currently predominantly held by the British Museum. The Gallery is designed to replicate the exact dimensions of the original setting, though at a more comfortable viewing height – and the full height glass windows provide views of the Parthenon itself.

The Greeks have solved the problem of the frieze's absence temporarily by exhibiting exact casts of the originals, but pointed notices by each section refer to the original’s current location!

Open daily – hours vary by season. Kirker clients travelling to Athens receive a complimentary entrance ticket to both the Acropolis and the Acropolis Museum.
