Henri Matisse spent much of his time in Nice between 1917 and his death here in 1954. This elegant Genoese Villa at 164 Avenue des Arènes de Cimiez, is the artist’s personal collection from all periods of his long working life, starting in 1890 and ending with the glorious gouache cut-outs of his final days. The collection includes the seminal works, A Tempest at Nice and Still Life with Pomegranates. A ticket for the museum is included at no extra charge for all Kirker clients traveling to Nice.

Open 10:00 – 17:00 in winter, till 18:00 in summer and closed Tuesdays and public holidays.

For a further taste of Matisse, don’t miss The Chapelle du Rosaire (The Rosary Chapel), often referred to as the Matisse Chapel, a small Catholic chapel and museum located in the nearby town of Vence. Built by Henri Matisse, it houses a collection of drawings, engravings, models, photos, texts and liturgical vestments designed by the artist. Open 10:00 – 11:30 and 14:00 – 17:30 on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, afternoons only on Wednesday and Saturday. Closed Sundays, Mondays and public holidays, and from 15 November to 05 December.
