Uffizi Gallery

Florence, Italy
Kirker Holidays

The Galleria degli Uffizi, housed in a Renaissance Palace just off the main square, Piazza della Signoria, is one of the great museums of the world and houses seminal works by Botticelli, Leonardo and Michelangelo. The building was formerly offices of the Medici administration, from whence the name ‘Uffizi’ is derived. Make sure you visit the Botticelli Room to see Birth of Venus and Spring (Primavera) and don’t forget to look at the stunning view of the Ponte Vecchio from the end of the gallery on the top floor.

It is essential to pre-book your entrance ticket before traveling and if you have chosen to include the Uffizi Gallery entrance ticket with your Kirker holiday to Florence (we also offer the Accademia or Bargello), an official voucher will be delivered to your hotel one or two days in advance by our agents, Intertravel. This voucher should be presented at the “RESERVATION ONLY” entrance and exchanged at the box office across from the Uffizi. We suggest that you arrive at the Gallery 15 minutes before your allocated time.

We highly recommend the services of an expert local guide to help interpret the highlights of the museum most effectively – it can make an enormous difference to the experience. If you wish to use the audio guides in the Gallery, make sure to bring your passport on the day.

Open Tuesday to Sunday 08:15–18:30, closed Mondays.

The Vasari Corridor was built by Giorgio Vasari to link his office in the Uffizi to the Pitti Palace, the home of the Grand Duke, by crossing the river Arno on top of the shops and houses of the Ponte Vecchio (now all jewellers, but previously all butchers). This covered walkway, nearly a kilometre in length, houses over 1,000 paintings by some of the most renowned masters from the 16th to 20th centuries. Closed for renovations since 2016, the corridor is anticipated to reopen soon but a date is yet to be confirmed.
