The spectacular Cité du Vin opened in 2016 and isn’t so much a museum but a vinous wonderland. The fully interactive exhibits showcase the history, culture and romance of wine from all over the globe. Its mind-boggling exhibits will absorb you for hours, while the ‘Belvedere’ tasting bar offers the chance to try wines from all over the world, including unexpected places such as Georgia and Ethiopia while gazing over the rooftops of the city. For an appropriate souvenir, take home a bottle from the ‘library cellar’ which offers a choice of some 800 wines from all over the world. The whole thing is set in an intriguingly shaped glass building, designed to represent the swirl wine makes when it’s poured into a glass.
