Gemäldegalerie

Berlin, Germany

Although housed in a modern building designed by Christopher Sattler and Heinz Hilmer, the Gemäldegalerie offers a superb environment to view the wonderful works of art on display. The paintings are gently lit by diffused daylight which streams in from above. Even the walls are covered in a special light-absorbing fabric. As befitting such modern technology, the gallery’s collection represents the best of all the major European schools of painting and thus there are works by the Dutch (Rubens), Flemish (Jan van Eyck), Spanish (Velazquez), French (Chardin), Italian (Botticelli), German (Dürer) and English (Reynolds). The vast main hall at the centre of the building is a perfect oasis for the weary visitor with a water-filled pool as its centrepiece. Located just west of Potsdamer Platz, and south of the large Tiergarten park.

All Kirker clients staying in Berlin will receive a Berlin Museum Pass, valid for 72 hours, with their final travel documents. The pass entitles you to free entrance to over 30 museums including the unique collection of five museums on Berlin’s ‘Museuminsel’ and the Gemäldegalerie.
