Kirker Holidays

The renowned Hamburg Kunsthalle is one of the largest art museums in the country, having been expanded twice in 1921 and 1997. It is located in the historical district of Hamburg-Alstadt, making it an ideal base to explore St Michael’s Church and Rathaus, the neo-renaissance city hall.

There is a combination of contemporary and modern art, from the 20th century onwards. Particular highlights include mediaeval altars, Rembrandt paintings, German Romanticism, as well contemporary art such as pop art, and classic modernism. There are also over 6,500 sculptures, from the Middle Ages, the Baroque period, and the 19th century, together spanning 2,000 years, from antiquity to 1960.
