Cultural Highlights
The Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Paris is a supreme masterpiece of French architecture that took 182 years to complete (1163-1345). Located in the historical heart of the city, Île de la Cité, Notre-Dame holds a significant place in the heart of Parisians, standing as a testament to the city’s faith and history.
Following the devastating fire on 15 April 2019, which destroyed the cathedral’s mediaeval framework and spire, a major restoration project was completed in late 2024, and Notre-Dame is again open to visitors.
There is no entrance charge, and you do not need to book in advance. Queues can be long on weekends and holidays, but they are fast-moving as there are no tickets to check, and rarely take longer than 20 minutes. To avoid the worst of the queues, we recommend that you arrive early in the morning, or late in the afternoon.
Current opening hours are Monday to Friday 7:50am to 7pm, until 10pm on Thursdays, and Saturday and Sunday, from 8:15am to 7:30pm.
A limited number of reservations are available online, but these only go live from 11pm UK time/midnight French time, two days in advance, and the tickets will be emailed direct to you. If you don’t manage to get them in time, then don’t worry, just aim to get there in the morning.
