Paradise Lost. Tapestries of the Salzburg Cathedral

Salzburg, Austria
Kirker Holidays

DomQuartier - North Oratory
Until 13 October 2025

The cathedral treasury in Salzburg holds six extraordinary large-format 17th century tapestries, which were woven from wool and silk in the Brussels workshop of Jan Aerts. Normally kept out of public view for conservation reasons, it is rare for even one of these tapestries to be included in a special exhibition, but now, for the first time, the six richly detailed tapestries will be given their own exhibition. The works collectively narrate the biblical tales from Genesis: the creation of paradise and the consequences of the Fall of Man.
