Cultural Highlights
There are some beautiful churches in Milan and it would be a pity to leave the city without visiting a few of them, but the most important for art-lovers is perhaps Basilica di Santa Maria delle Grazie.
Started by the Dominicans between 1465 and 1490 and completed by Bramante it features beautiful frescoes, a magnificent dome, elegant gallery and cloisters. However, the real treasure is in the Refectory, where you will find Leonardo da Vinci’s The Last Supper, one of the world’s most sought-after paintings. Opposite is Montorfano’s Crucifixion, so don’t forget to turn around!
Visitors to the Basilica are strictly limited and time slots to view The Last Supper can be a challenge to secure and must be booked well in advance. Please contact the Kirker Concierge (020 7593 2286 or concierge@kirkerholidays.com) for details and to check availability. The church is open to visitors Monday to Saturday from 09:00 – 12:20 and 15:30 – 17:50 and Sunday from 16:00 – 17:50.
