France’s second largest city is the country’s gastronomic capital – the Kirker Concierge can assist with restaurant suggestions – from Michelin-starred establishments to historic bouchon bistros which once served Lyon’s silk workers. Often overlooked in favour of other better known cities, the Renaissance centre is recognised as a UNESCO Heritage Site and is a delight with its narrow winding streets and secret passageways. The Musée Des Beaux Arts has works by Matisse, Monet and Picasso and is noted for its sculpture collection. We also recommend the city’s renowned opera house and the Sunday farmers market. Whilst Lyon is a short flight from the UK, travelling by Eurostar is a great alternative. A direct service operates from May to December with a journey time of four hours 40 minutes from London St.Pancras or four hours from Ashford.
