Thessaloniki

City

Overview

One of the oldest cities in Europe, Thessaloniki has a fascinating heritage dating back to 315BC. There is still evidence of Roman and Ottoman rule; however, it is the collection of preserved Byzantine architecture that has given the city UNESCO World Heritage status. Thessaloniki is a thriving port where city life centres around the waterfront promenade and it makes a great short break destination in its own right or works well as part of a multi-centre itinerary. There are plenty of regional flights connecting it with Athens, Santorini and other islands.
