Modica
Modica is a superbly atmospheric ‘town of a hundred churches’ and spreads up either side of a deep gorge with ancient buildings seemingly stacked one on top of the other. UNESCO protected, it has perfectly preserved Baroque architecture. The beautiful sandy beaches of Sampieri and Marina di Modica are a short drive away, as are the towns of Ragusa and Scicli.
