The Hague

City

Overview

Flanked by forests and with numerous canals, a seaside location and large areas of green, it is a quieter, more charming version of Amsterdam. The Hague offers fine Baroque and Art Nouveau architecture, stylish cafés and antique shops and some of the country’s best museums including the famous Mauritshuis, home to Vermeer's 'Girl With a Pearl Earring' and 'View of Delft'. The Hague lies 40 kilometres southwest of Amsterdam. Delft and Leiden can be reached in 10 minutes by train.
