The small town of Alta is located in the far north of Finnmark County in Norway and is one of the world's northernmost cities. It is renowned for its clear skies, which combined with the northerly latitude, make it a prime location to see the Northern Lights during the winter months. Summer in this part of the world is equally spectacular as the long daylight hours and mild climate are perfect for visiting the UNESCO protected Alta rock carvings and the spectacular scenery of Altafjord.
