Famous for its world renowned Jazz Festival, Montreux sits on the shores of Lake Geneva in a sheltered bay surrounded by vineyards and is less than 10 minutes by train from Vevey. Palm trees and cypresses line the delightful promenade which leads all the way to the 12th Century Chillon Castle which is perched on a rocky outcrop. Other highlights include the Rochers-de-Naye rack railway which will take you to one of Switzerland's most beautiful vantage points.

One of many fortified towns on the north coast, colourful Montreuil was a base for the British Army during the latter stages of World War II. Built in 1933, within five minutes' walk of the town centre, the Château de Montreuil reflects the history of the property, mixing traditional French décor with Art Deco and more modern touches in its 10 bedrooms.
This grand Belle Époque building is ideally situated in the heart of Montreux – the train station is opposite and the lake is just a few steps away. The hotel was completely renovated in 2010 in a modern style whilst retaining many of the original features.
