The Sabi Sands is the most famous of the private reserves bordering the Kruger National Park and has a great reputation for the very best game viewing. The fence between the Sabi Sands and the Kruger National Park has been taken down so the animals can roam free and because there has been no hunting in the reserve for many years the ‘big cats’ are accustomed to the vehicles – the game viewing is often phenomenal. Lodges within Sabi Sands are closer together so, whilst you have an excellent chance of seeing the ‘Big Five’, you are also more likely to be sharing the experience with other vehicles.

One of the first private game reserves, Sabi Sabi has developed an enviable reputation for superb game drives with a focus on the protection of the wilderness. With the four lodges, Selati Camp, Bush Lodge, Little Bush and Earth Lodge, Sabi Sabi has developed a fascinating expression of 'Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow'.
Located in a large concession at the southern end of the Sabi Sands Reserve, Lion Sands consists of four lodges. The accommodation at Ivory, Narina and Tinga is some of the most luxurious in Sabi Sands; the nine suites in each have the feel of a private villa and have wonderful views of the Sabie River from their private plunge pools.
Sited within the private concessions of the Sabi Sands, in the south west of the Kruger National Park, Leopard Hills has just eight glass fronted suites, each with double indoor and outdoor showers and a private plunge pool on the deck – a great place to relax, and maybe come face-to-face with a passing giraffe.
