Having descended from the hill country past dozens of waterfalls, or driven along the wild coast from Galle, Yala National Park is a fitting end to your journey. Situated directly on the coast, it is home to elephant, crocodile, buffalo, sloth bear, the elusive leopard and many species of birds. Sightings are generally good, particularly for those who undertake a few game drives. It is a very different experience to African safaris and visitors who go with this in mind will appreciate their visit.
