Berlin Opera

Berlin Prices on request

Berlin’s three distinguished opera houses will be back in full swing during the 2017/8 season when the Berlin Staatsoper returns to its renovated theatre on Unter den Linden. Tickets will be in short supply as opera lovers from around the world flock to see the work that has taken several years to complete.

Musical highlights there will be rare fully staged performances of ‘King Arthur’ by Purcell with its libretto by Dryden, performances of Rossini’s ‘Il barbiere di Siviglia’ and Verdi’s ‘Macbeth.’ At the Deutsche Oper, there will be a Verdi Festival throughout May with performances of ‘Nabucco,’ ‘Don Carlo,’ ‘La traviata,’ ‘Rigoletto,’ ‘Il trovatore’ and ‘Un ballo in maschera.’ There will be two concert performances of Donizetti’s ‘Maria Stuarda’ opera about rival queens, Mary and Elizabeth and performances of one of opera’s greatest warhorses, ‘Ponchielli’s La Gioconda’ in June. In addition to all this, there are always controversial productions at the Komische Oper and chamber music and song recitals at the city’s latest venue, the Pierre Boulez Hall the city’s first custom-built chamber music concert hall.
