Vienna is at its best at Christmas time, when exquisitely decorated shop windows and elegant festive lights brighten up the medieval streets in the city centre. We include a performance of La Fille du Regiment at the Vienna State Opera on Christmas Day. There will also be visits to the city’s finest museums and galleries, including the Belvedere and the Kunsthistorisches Museum. We stay at one of the city’s finest hotels, the 5* Deluxe Bristol, perfectly located adjacent to the State Opera.
...when you travel with Kirker

Included performance on Christmas Day
La fille de regiment by Donizetti
First performed by the Opera-Comique at the Salle de la Bourse, Paris on 11 February 1840.
The South African soprano Pretty Yende sings the role of Marie with the Peruvian tenor Juan Diego Florez as Tonio, a role he has made his own around the world over the last decade. Michele Spotti conducts in this production by Laurent Pelly.
Optional performance on Boxing Day
Der Rosenkavalier by Richard Strauss
First performed at the Semperoper, Dresden on 26 January 1911.
The classic production by the great Viennese producer and director Otto Schenk celebrates the city of his birth. Sumptuous and traditional production this is a welcome reminder of the long-gone and much missed golden age of opera. The Bulgarian soprano Krassimira Stoyanova, the American mezzo-soprano Kate Lindsey and Vera-Lotte Boecker take the three leading roles alongside Gunther Groissbeck as the foolish Baron Ochs. Pbilippe Jordan conducts.
Second category ticket: £235 (includes booking fees)
