Marrakech is an intoxicating destination for all the senses, and the city and its surroundings are also home to a number of remarkable gardens. In the company of expert horticulturist Kirsty Fergusson, we shall explore some of the finest – from the famous Jardins Majorelle created by Yves Saint Laurent and Pierre Berge, to several private gardens which are not normally open to the public, as well as a day in the magnificent Atlas Mountains. Late Spring and early Autumn are perfect for enjoying some warm Moroccan sunshine.

The discreet entrance door and reception hall give no clue to the delightful courtyard gardens of this charming hotel. Created by combining a number of private houses, the architect has taken great trouble to preserve the character of the original buildings.
Kirsty Fergusson exchanged a career in academia (she is a PhD specialising in French philosopher-novelists) for a life in gardening. Trained at Capel Manor, she was head gardener at Mapperton in Dorset during the early nineties, where a series of fortunate encounters opened the door to garden writing.
As well as writing a weekly column for The Express, for many years she was a frequent contributor to Gardens Illustrated, House and Garden, Country Life, The Times, The Telegraph and The Independent. In 2003 she moved to South West France, where she continues to explore the possibilities of her own (very forgiving) garden - when not travelling, writing or leading garden tours.
