The Nile is the lifeblood which flows through the length of Egypt and has defined its civilisations since antiquity. This holiday combines a cruise on the Nile itself with a stay at two of Egypt’s most famous hotels, the palatial Victorian Old Winter Palace in Luxor and the Old Cataract Hotel in Aswan. Highlights include the Valley of the Kings and Queens, the temples at Kom Ombo and Edfu, and Aswan’s Philae Temple. Be sure to ask about an optional excursion to visit the colossal statues of Rameses II rescued from Lake Nasser to sit at Abu Simbel.

The Old Cataract Hotel and the surrounding area inspired Agatha Christie’s novel, ‘Death on the Nile’. It opened in 1899 and is set in gardens overlooking the Nile and the legendary Elephantine Island and sits at the end of the corniche.
This Victorian style hotel was built in 1886. It is located in the centre of Luxor on the banks of the Nile and in the heart of lush tropical gardens with a large outdoor swimming pool.
