Grand Mosque, Muscat
Jan Morris described Oman as “fascinatingly different" from its neighbours, and it remains a country quite distinct, with its own diverse landscape, history and culture. Our new tour will take you from the imposing Hajar Mountains to Indian Ocean beaches, through much of Oman’s fascinating cultural heritage. Starting in the interior, we will see ancient ruins and mediaeval desert forts, before climbing into the spectacular mountains where the landscape combines dramatic gorges and verdant terraces of pomegranate and walnuts, as well as the fine-scented Damask rose, highly-prized for producing aromatic rose oil. Descending to the coast, we will explore the combination of historic souks and striking modern architecture in Muscat, and there will be time to enjoy the idyllic sandy beaches.
