Opera At The Arena Di Verona

Verona 4 nights Prices on request

There really isn’t anything quite like a night at the Arena di Verona as dusk falls in the still warm air and the huge audience falls silent in anticipation of the delights to come. Our holiday includes two operas and you can choose to attend Verdi’s spectacular Egyptian opera, Aida, Bizet’s Carmen and Puccini’s Turandot.

We stay at the lovely 4 star Hotel Palazzo Victoria in the centre of Verona, just a few minutes’ walk from the Arena and the city’s elegant centre. There will be a walking tour with a local guide who will introduce the major sights of this beautiful city. We will also visit the AMO Museum, a must for opera lovers where the history of opera in Verona is described. Many historic costumes are on display as well as photographs of the greatest singers of the 20th century who have sung at the Arena. There will be time for independent exploration – the cool green Giardino Giusti, San Zeno and the Roman Forum are all worth a visit as is the Chiesa dei Filippini, where Maria Callas married Giovanni Battista Meneghini on 21 April 1949, right at the beginning of her illustrious career. You may choose to use the excellent train services from Verona to Mantua, to nearby Vicenza, the city of Palladio, or to Desenzano for the elegant resort of Sirmione on the shores of Lake Garda.

Opera at the Arena di Verona

Sian made this holiday outstanding - the best tour leader we've had (and that's not entirely down to the glass of prosecco), it's the attention to detail, the extras, the organisation... and we all had fun.
